Description

A unique Grand Wine from Horitschon – the Mittelburgenland DAC Reserve from the legendary top vineyard Dürrau, known for its heavy clay soils in the Blaufränkisch region, represents arguably one of the best Blaufränkisch vineyards in the world. This exceptional origin, coupled with the deep soil, gives the wine a special character that elevates it to the highest level. This magnificent wine of extremely high quality is truly something special. Only a few great wines display this impressive fruit density and complexity after prolonged barrel aging. This Blaufränkisch first matured for nine months on the fine lees in small French barriques. This aging in small barriques ensures a fine, elegant structure. The wine then spent a further 54 months in large Austrian oak barrels, where it was able to develop its full depth and complexity. The extended aging in larger oak barrels ensures that the tannins mature finely, preserving the spicy aromas and adding elegance to the wine without losing its fruitiness. The long aging process on the lees and in oak barrels not only gives the wine structure and balance, but also exceptional ageing potential.

The wine displays a rich ruby garnet color with a deep, dark core, surrounded by violet hues and a delicate watery rim. The aroma opens with intense notes of blackberries, cherries, and ripe dark berries, revealing a clear fruitiness. Spicy and elegant nuances make it very profound and refined. The aroma is underscored by an interesting interplay of earthiness and spices such as cinnamon and thyme. On the palate, the wine remains fresh and presents itself with rich, juicy tannins that linger for an indefinite time. The fruit of ripe cherries and blackberries remains present, embedded in a voluminous body that is rich in extract, yet always well-defined and elegant. The oak is perfectly integrated and adds additional complexity to the wine.

The long finish is accompanied by delicate, juicy tannins and a persistent fruity finish that combines the impression of finesse and power. A fruity finish accompanied by delicate tannins – a phenomenal wine, a true masterpiece, incredibly complex, with the highest potential, earthy spice, dynamic, monumental, absolutely world-class, majestic, and a tremendous future. A magnificent wine that combines finesse and power in an impressive way.
